Lens Shots

There’s nothing like the sound that an SLR camera makes when you take a picture.

Chick-uh.

Where ever we go, we always take our camera with us.

You just never know what you are going to see!

Here is a selection of our favourite pictures and the stories to go with them.

Whilst on an autumn walk in a beautiful forest in Upton Nervet  we came across the most amazing caterpillar we have ever seen!

These are just some of the 100 bowties made for our wedding reception. The bowties made by Rachel, Kalee Jones and Kaleigh Notman were gifts for the men and boys who came. Great colours and so good to see them being worn when we were welcomed into the reception hall.

This is the view from the window of Betty Blue, the VW Kombi we hired for our 3 week trip around New Zealand, on the first morning camping. Camp Bay was not far east of Christchurch on the South Island. An eery morning given the low mist and the small population in this small town.

There were so many beautiful bays to explore whilst travelling around New Zealand but this one had to be the most peaceful. After driving around the hillside for some time, bumping along the gravel track in the Kombi, we came to a farm which obviously, given the sound of baaaa-ing and the smell, dealt in sheep.

We had to get out and explore.

The sun was high in the sky, beaming down, guiding the way from town to town until suddenly the darker side of the weather had had enough. It was like driving into a wall of snow. Hail stones drove there way down. Cars and trucks were veering off road to take cover under trees. The force was amazing. The experience was unique. And in true New Zealand fashion, a minute later, the sun was winning again.

11am had come on Christmas Day 2009 and the tide was in far enough to set sail on our voyage to a bay across from the one we were camping at. Little did Rachel know that this was the moment that I would propose. The owner of the boat said I shouldn’t take my guitar with me but I insisted I would need it! After playing some songs to Rachel, I got down on one knee and asked Rachel to spend the rest of her life with me. A lasting memory and the best moment of my life.

Hello Rachel, you’re as big as the mountains!

It was an overcast morning when we arrived back into Sydney from New Zealand. A great view of Sydney Harbour that gave us so many special memories on 2009. We spent New Years Eve in a small bay, just under the Harbour Bridge. I, Darren, also ran over the bridge during the Sydney Half Marathon at 6.30am. Symbolic.

This cable cart was pretty basic. Taking us up to the top of a hill on the perimeter of Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand. We met our friend Kelzie who lives here and were shown around this beautiful town. A busy town with lots of extreme activities to take part in such as speed boating through the canyon, bunjy jumping and tree trekking. Stunning views from the top!

Sea Lion hunting off the coast of Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand. The sun was shining bright and gave great photography. we saw so may Sea Lions up close. The tide quickly came in so it was bare feet all the way back to the Kombi.

This stunning sunset is beautifully reflected in our Kombi windws and captures the stunning colours of the sky. This was taken in the garden of Mark Buckingham’s family garden in Nelson, South Island, New Zealand. Mark was a housemate of Darren’s during his first semester at Hillsong International Leadership College. Mark is a great cook and being at his house we found out why he always talks about growing his own food in the garden!
